Abstract: |
Underneath a post-medieval garden soil, two gullies, a pit and possible well of post-medieval date were recovered. Two linear features were thought to represent the alignment of medieval boundaries. Pits, post holes and environmental material led to the interpretation of the site as a medieval farm, with little activity between this period and the 17th century. Structural remains of the building noted on the 1842 Meare Tithe map were encountered. Environmental samples revealed much about the nature of crops grown in the vicinity. |
