Abstract: |
Field evaluation revealed substantial later truncation of the site, in addition to evidence of the 19th and 20th century riverside wharves. Trench 4, also close to the Abbey road frontage revealed a further east-west aligned channel with evidence of wooden revetting along its southern edge. Its lower fills contained quantities of 12th centuty pottery, and its upper fill contained high medieval sherds A further small, irregular pit contained 12th century sherds. A full excavation subsequently confirmed the dating of the feature. [Au(abr)] |
