Abstract: |
York Archaeological Trust monitored a programme of consolidation works to York City Walls, at and adjacent to Victoria Bar. Those parts of the chainage recorded extended between 300-365 and 368.8 - 389.4. In the former area photogrammetric plots of the interior and exterior elevations were checked and annotated, and observations and records made within 35 engineering holes excavated through the wall walk. In the second area a further 10 engineering holes were recorded. These observations verified the sequence of wall building, repair and addition and also confirmed the extent of 19th century restoration to the parapet. [Au(abr)] |
