Abstract:		 An archaeological desk based assessment on a site within the centre of Oswestry revealed that the first documentary and cartographic evidence for the site of the proposed development dated to c. 1833-1849. At that time the site was an open field, probably with relict ridge and furrow earthworks. There was also evidence for the presence of a medieval hospital on the edge of the site. [AIP]
