Abstract: |
The assessment site lay in an area of historical and archaeological interest. The site of the Roman basilica and forum lay immediately to the west. Close by was a site occupied in the medieval period by a large aristocratic residential complex, the Leaden Hall, and subsequently by a 15th century municipal garner which provided the focus for Leadenhall Market. Evidence from adjacent sites indicated that a major road ran across the middle of the site from the earliest period of Roman occupation in the area. [Au(abr)] |
