Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of an extension to a pond. Cropmarks and other evidence indicating activity dating from the Neolithic to early medieval times had been recorded nearby. The site itself was covered by medieval ridge and furrow, and was crossed by a large post-medieval bank. During the evaluation, two ditches were recorded near the bank. One contained a sherd of 12th-15th century pottery, whilst the other contained two 18th or 19th century sherds. Two palaeochannels of uncertain date were noted, and fragments of burnt flint were recovered. It was concluded that the evaluation had fully explored the research potential of the site. [AIP] |
