Abstract: |
A basic archaeological investigation and subsequent excavation was undertaken in advance of the proposed construction of an access route into a new landfill site. Evidence of prehistoric activity in the form of pits and postholes was recorded in addition to a series of Romano-British ditches. The prehistoric features were undoubtedly related to a giant ritual complex - dating from the Neolithic period onwards - immediately to the northwest of the investigation area. The Romano-British remains were thought to relate to field systems surrounding a known villa site at Rectory Farm. [Au(adp)] |
