Abstract: |
In June 1996, the site of a proposed warehouse, garden centre and car park in the south-east corner of Southend Airport was evaluated by trial trenching. The remains of a small Late Bronze Age ditch was found, within which was a large amount of burnt flint and charcoal, possibly originating from a nearby hearth, along with a number of finds. This led to the creation of the hypothesis that there was a nearby, as yet undetected settlement. An excavation was organised to test this. [Au(adp)] |
