Abstract:		 An initial gazetteer of bridge sites in Warwickshire was produced and a preliminary examination and quantification of likely historical sources for each bridge, and an introductory overview of the cultural resources that they represent was undertaken. This was undertaken as the first stage of a project aiming to enable the archaeological implications of road proposals involving bridges to be easily assessed, while the detailed surveys would form the basis for rapid advice on repairs and speedy processing of consent applications for protected bridges, thus achieving overall economies on bridge maintenance programmes.
