Abstract:
An archaeological watching brief during the redevelopment of the site recorded Roman deposits and structural remains dating to the late 1st and early 2nd century AD. The discovery of occupation evidence, some 250 metres to the west of two Roman forts, challenged the notion that the civilian settlement was soley situated to the southwest of the forts, close to the Roman road.
