Abstract: |
The evaluation consisted of five hand-excavated test pits. The site lay close to, but probably outside, the eastern Roman cemetery of London. The results of the fieldwork indicated that a large part of the early post-medieval sequence was preserved on site, but that this sequence was characterised by thick dump deposits which were possibly filling quarry pits. A focus of archaeological interest was the recording of the mill building itself and any hidden features which may have been revealed during demolition and site clearance. [Au(abr)] |
