Abstract: |
A desk top assessment was undertaken of a site where extensive redevelopment was proposed. A Neolithic flint axe and a Roman bronze box and coin had previously been found on the site. The first High Tension power station was recorded as having occupied part of the site. Finds of Roman and prehistoric artefacts had been recovered from the adjacent River Thames. Some medieval and post-medieval remains, including an excavated post-medieval pottery kiln, had been recorded in the surrounding area. It was concluded that the site had potential for archaeological remains of all periods, and that an investigation would be necessary.[AIP] |
