Abstract: |
Three trial trenches were excavated prior to the determination of a planning application to redevelop the site. The evaluation revealed stratified Roman deposits to be present, though some later truncation of parts of the site had been caused by gravel quarrying in the post-medieval period. Roman features and layers were dated to the 1st to early 2nd centuries by ceramic evidence. They included ditches and a pit, in addition to a levelling/occupation deposit present across part of the site. [Au(adp)] |
