Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site was undertaken. Previous work at the site had revealed a Roman well and pottery, medieval and later pits and several undated features, including a timber revetment. A Roman mosaic had been found at an adjacent site, and an amphitheatre lay 50m to the north. Numerous other buildings had been excavated in the vicinity, and early medieval remains had been recorded. It was concluded that deep features such as pits and foundations could survive at the site; an evaluation was begun prior to completion of the report. [AIP] |
