Abstract: |
During the evaluation part of the town wall was discovered within the standing building. The depth of the deposits was ascertained but the town ditch was not encountered. Other test pits produced a large number of artefacts from three layers of garden soil, two post-medieval features and two medieval pits, one of which contained the in situ base of a 14th or 15th century bunghole pitcher, probably set into the late medieval floor as a small water cistern. A possible prehistoric ditch was also located. [Au(abr)] |
