Abstract: |
Three evaluation trenches were excavated in a large garden plot to the rear of the property. Trench 1, at the extreme north of the plot, revealed a ditch cut by two slots, all of medieval date. Two further undated features were also excavated in this trench. Trench 2, located in the central area of the plot , uncovered a large ditch of putative Late Saxon date together with a post hole thought likely to have been of recent origin. Trench 3, at the extreme south-west corner of the site, revealed two ditches and two slots which may have been of Late Saxon date. Later features in this trench included possible garden features, two large pits of modern date, a number of post holes also thought to be recent and a series of ceramic pipe lined drains. [Au] |
