Abstract: |
The investigations confirmed that the internal partitions within the north-eastern part of the refectory range contained much late-medieval fabric in situ. The north-eastern end of the refectory was probably remodelled in the early 16th century. The rooms at the north-east end of the building were furnished to a high standard, and by the 17th-century seemed to have featured small-field panelling and painted beams in the first-floor room. The refectory hall was divided into two storeys in the mid to late 17th century, incorporating the former passage screen as a new internal partition. [Au(adp)] |
