Abstract: |
The walkover survey comprised a visual inspection of the proposed development area. It was possible that prehistoric/Romano-British settlement was located on the south side of the proposed development area. A small cairn of unknown date was located on the north side of the site. The area was enclosed in the post-medieval period. Fragmentary ridge and furrow earthworks and a number of trackways survived within the proposed development area. A small area of well-preserved ridge and furrow earthworks was located towards the centre of the site. A post-medieval corn mill was situated close to the north side of the site. A mill race crossed the west side of the proposed development area, and survived as an earthwork. [Au(abr)] |
