Abstract: |
The observation of foundation trenches revealed no trace of archaeological features or deposits, other than the foundations of a small barn which had occupied the western part of the site until the 1960s, and an undated stone and brick-lined culvert. A layer which suggested relatively damp conditions was noted, and it seemed that the area may have lain on a spring line, at the head of streams flowing southwards from Chard into the Axe.
