Abstract: |
<summary>A watching brief was carried out during repair work on a section of York City Walls. The work required the removal of the flagged surface of the walkway and excavation through the fill beneath to allow the insertion of metal tie bars. The remains of a medieval wall running beneath the present 19th century wall were found, running on a slightly different alignment. Earlier builds of a walkway wall would also seem to be present, although these may be strengthening the present wall. {italon}AIP{italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} 1992.23 (YAT investigation identification no) |
