Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken in advance of a site redevelopment into residential accommodation. The evidence examined suggested that, prior to its initial development for housing in the 19th century, the study area appeared to have comprised land used for agricultural/market-gardening purpose. The study area was initially developed for housing in the second half of the 19th century, including the construction of Goodhind Street. By the 1970s the study area had been cleared of housing and was subsequently re-developed for a new public house, The Great Engineer, recently Sugas Bar. [Au(adp)] |
