Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed a medieval pit, two post holes and a ditch of mid 12th-13th century date c.80-100m to the south of Woodmancote Place. No other important features of medieval or earlier date were observed. A standing building appraisal looked at five buildings of which building 1 included parts of a three-bay medieval barn which was added to in the 17th century with further additions in the 19th century. Three of the buildings were shown to have been of 19th or 20th century date and one, the granary/stable, despite conflicting evidence from the Tithe map, was interpreted on structural evidence as being of late 17th or early 18th century.
