Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site wthin an Archaeological Priority Area was undertaken. A small number of prehistoric and Roman artefacts had been found in the surrounding area, and the projected line of a Roman road passed nearby. The site lay on the early medieval foreshore; settlement evidence of this date had been excavated in the vicinity. During later medieval times, the site lay in an area of gardens. Part of it had been built upon by the mid-17th century. It was concluded that an evaluation should be carried out. [AIP] |
