Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed no archaeological remains and only slight post-medieval and modern activity in the northern portion of the floodplain site. This consisted of a bank and ditch from a late 19th century field boundary, a series of land drains associated with the draining of the floodplain and also a discrete area of slate and brick dumping likely to have been associated with Haseley Manor. Variations in the natural flood plain geology and the overlying subsoil were recorded in coring work. The information was useful in relation to understanding the past vegetation and past distribution of the Island's woodland. [Au(adp)] |
