Abstract: |
The site lay near to the former Poultry Packers site excavated in 1998, which revealed a stratified sequence of deposits dating from the 12th to early 14th centuries. Work at the nearby Hop Pole Inn also uncovered an organic deposit dating between the 13th and 14th centuries. However, it was apparent at the Porters Mill Close site that it had at some point been levelled. No top-soil or sub-soil was present in the north-western part of the site. Medieval pottery was recovered from the southern corner of the site, though it was associated with no definite features. [Au(abr)] |
