Abstract: |
A watching brief held over excavations for a house and garage on the Glatton Hall estate discovered medieval remains indicating activity in the area before the establishment of the hall. They may have been associated with an earlier hall, or an unrelated building. It appeared that the Glatton Hall estate was well established by the early 17th century, and thick layers of soil supported the cartographic record of the area being in fairly continuous use as a garden area for over 350 years.
