Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained on four test pits dug against the outside walls of St Stephen's Chapel in the Palace of Westminster. The chapel was originally constructed in 1141 and was rebuilt between 1292 and 1348. The watching brief showed that the present, largely 19th century chapel appeared to be built over the remains of its medieval predecessor and to the same general ground plan.[AIP] |
