Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment of the site of a proposed barn conversion identified that the development area lay within the deserted medieval village of Roel, and that the modern farm lay on the site of the medieval manor house, vicarage and parish church. Parts of the fabric of the church had been built into the present farmhouse, a Grade II Listed Building of 17th, 18th and 19th century date. The 19th century Grade II Listed barn complex and a Grade II Listed 18th century stables and cartshed formed part of the farm. A more modest 19th century building, barn 6, was not listed. It was recommended that a brief record of barn 6 and a photographic record of the main barn complex should be made prior to conversion. [AIP] |
