Abstract:
The evaluation revealed features and deposits of archaeological significance, which could be grouped into three broad categories. 1) Late Iron Age/Belgic; 2) medieval; 3) undated. The Late Iron Age features comprised ditches, gullies and pits, at least one post hole, and a short length of possible trackway. It was considered that a profusion of ditches across the site during the Late Iron Age and medieval period were probably dug in an attempt to drain the land for agricultural use. The recorded medieval features, comprising ditches and pits, spanned a period from the 13th to the 16th century. A number of post-medieval features were also revealed. [Au(abr)]
