Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of foundations for four houses at a site which lay within a Local Area of Archaeological Importance. Flint tools, a Roman coin and evidence of Roman occupation had been found in the surrounding area, and the site had lain within the grounds of the Bellevue Estate from c. 1766 until the mid-19th century. During the watching brief, the footings of 19th century buildings were observed, and two fragments of post-medieval pottery were recovered. [AIP] |
