Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during the construction of an extension. The work followed initial documentary survey and building evaluation, and the excavation of two trial trenches, which suggested the plot had been occupied since the medieval period. A stone wall footing was recorded, in association with a probable foundation trench containing two sherds of pottery dated to the 13th century. Several pits of probable 17th and 18th century date were also observed, suggesting a sequence of buildings may have once butted against the southern boundary of the site. [Au(abr)] |
