Abstract: |
Trial trenching was carried out on part of the site of the Cambourne new settlement development. The area investigated was to be developed as Phase 1a housing plots and associated infrastructure, together with part of the site drainage system including a pumping station and lake/reservoir. Occasional archaeological deposits were encountered, but modern ploughing could be seen to have penetrated to natural deposits. One ditch containing Iron Age pottery was discovered, together with a number of undatable ditches. Evidence for ridge and furrow of medieval or later date was found in many trenches, along with post-medieval boundaries. [Au(abr)] |
