Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken on the proposed route of a pipeline. The assessment identified that the 2m deep pipeline would have been likely to impact prehistoric salterns. The proposed pipeline was identified as cutting a Roman bank and a Saxon sea defence. The assessment recommended a re-route around a possible medieval shrunken village. The pipeline was also identified as potentially impacting upon a possible prehistoric burial mound. A small medieval settlement may have lay within part of the pipeline route. A mitigation scheme was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
