Abstract:
The assessment identified some of the background history of a number of sites within the development area, including a cotton mill, a number of bleach and dye works, an old hall and a colliery. This area had now mostly been lain to waste, due to the development of a paper-mill and by constant alterations to buildings. The Nursery Mill and Bankside works still existed, in a neglected state, but fell just outside the present development area. [Au(abr)]
