Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was carried out on the site. The excavation was targeted on an area of prehistoric archaeology identified in an earlier evaluation. Forty-eight features were identified associated with a buried soil, that may have formed a Bronze Age burial mound. The site was identified as a Bronze Age/Iron Age funerary site, containing one Bronze Age inhumation, nine cremations and a scatter of pits. One of the cremations was in an Early Bronze Age urn, two were carbon dated to the Late Bronze Age and remainder were dated to the Mid/Late Iron Age. A large medieval pit was also found. [Au(abr)] |
