Abstract: |
Test pitting was undertaken within land to the south of Vincent Drive, located within Metchley Roman forts. Beam slots, possibly forming parts of timber framed Roman buildings and a cobbled surface, possibly that of the main north-south road within the fort were discovered. Alternatively, the surface may have been associated with a post-medieval hunting lodge located in this sector of the fort interior. Other test-pits failed to reveal any archaeology. [Au(adp)] |
