Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken following the identification of a substantial scatter of burnt flint during fieldwalking in September 1994. The aim of the investigation was to establish the nature of the burnt flint scatter below the plough-zone, and locate any associated sub-soil features. Excavation revealed a shallow, linear feature, containing densely packed charcoal and burnt flint, and several sherds of Bronze Age pottery. The discovery of the feature suggested that the scatter was the result of prehistoric activity at the site which was later dispersed by modern agriculture. [Au] |
