Abstract: |
The purpose of the desktop assessmnt was to record any evidence for the location and history of the Chapel of St Mary's Thorpe and its graveyard in relation to the application to redevelop the site of the Dolphin Inn. It was possible to establish without doubt the site of the chapel, but it was not possible to determine the extent of its graveyard. The location of burials uncovered in the past during alteration to the Inn had not been recorded and it was therefore not possible to define any boundaries of the graveyard. The report concluded, however, that the site of the Inn lay outside the area of the graveyard. [AIP] |
