Abstract: |
The assessment showed that, while little archaeological work had taken place within the study areas, they potentially contained a variety of significant archaeological materials. This included possible Roman iron-working remains, traces of the medieval and later defences of the city, the site of a former church and river crossing, as well as part of the Anglo-Saxon and medieval Newport Street suburb. The potential also existed for palaeoenvironmental remains in waterlogged areas. [Au(abr)] |
