Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of five trenches in the gardens of the Old Deanery revealed two ditches, a large pit and a small gully. A ditch running towards the river from north of the Old Deanery was found to be of 13th century date. A large pit in the northern-most trench 1 was probably also medieval. This trench also contained a post-medieval ditch and gully. However, the two trenches closest to the present building contained only modern features. [Au] |
