Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken of the mixed residential and commercial development site. Macaulay Road lay within the area known as Clapham Old Town. This area was thought to have been settled by the early medieval period. Settlement had continued in this area until the present day. There was significant activity in the area throughout the post-medieval period, however, throughout this period the site had remained largely open ground until the late 19th century. Documentary evidence and previous work in the area suggested that there was a low potential for significant archaeological remains on the site. [Au(abr)] |
