Abstract: |
<summary>An evaluation was undertaken on behalf of William Davis Ltd. The fragmentary remains of a post hole structure, which had existed long enough to require replacement of at least one of its main structural elements, was associated with a ditch 6m wide and 1.5m deep. The ditch was dated to the 13th-14th centuries and environmental evidence suggested that intensive processing of agricultural products was being undertaken nearby. Taken together with the domestic nature and quantity of the pottery, it is suggested that this could represent a moated site. In the 17th or 18th century another structure, possibly a barn, was built on the same alignment. It almost certainly burnt down. No further activity took place on site until the latter half of the 19th century. {italon}Sec(21c){italoff} (amended) {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} HWCM12215 |
