Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during the first phase of a residential development. The site lay in close proximity to the medieval priory church, certain parts of which had been revealed during the construction of a tannery in 1819. Other features had also been revealed during investigative work in the 1980s. The construction of an inner relief road had destroyed much of the archaeology, only limited late medieval deposits were revealed with no associated structures or features. Parts of the tannery and the foundations of some workers cottages were recorded during the work. [AIP] |
