Abstract: |
An evaluation comprising a cave survey, field machine trenching at Shapter's Field, an auger Survey on Cockle Bank, Castewater, and documentary research, was undertaken in advance of a proposed land reclamation scheme in the Cattedown area. The potential for cave sites within the limestone bluff containing nationally important Palaeolithic material, including human remains and environmental data was high. The area covered by the scrap yard of Shapter's Field and the intertidal and underwater zone at Cockle Bank were of medium high potential. [AIP] |
