Abstract: |
An evaluation revealed various ad hoc attempts at reclamation of land from the river. Dumps of rubbish dating to the medieval and early post-medieval periods were exposed. Domestic and cultivation activity was considered likely nearby and possible evidence of domestic activity in the 16th century took the form of a foundation pad. It appeared from the evaluation evidence that the archaeology did not diverge significantly from the picture gained from the documentary sources. [Au(adp)] |
