Abstract: |
Machine trial trenching to the north of the existing building revealed two limestone walls on a NE-SW alignment, and a solidly constructed surface of pitched limestone and limestone slabs. No dating evidence was forthcoming for the features, which were thought to have belonged to a former garden arrangement fronting the manor house. The area containing these features was covered by a significant deposit of soil and building debris, laid down during landscaping in 1992. A third trench across the car park to the north of the present buildings contained no archaeological features or finds. [Au] |
