Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment was undertaken for proposed development on land comprising office buildings and a former churchyard of the 12th century St Thomas the Maytr, which was likely to have been provided with a burial ground. It was shown that St Thomas Street was developed in the medieval period with properties fronting the churchyard. In 1456 there were four shops and chambers fronting the churchyard, later referred to as three tenements, which had reduced to one large tenement in the 17th century before the rebuilding of the present four properties in 1673-75.
