Abstract: |
The assessment concluded that the present field pattern within the site had changed drastically since the late 16th century due to the removal of boundaries and the agglomeration of landholdings. The visible surface remains on the site included linear features which marked the positions of some of the former boundaries . Other linear features were likely to have been associated with a 19th century irrigation system. There was a substantial depth of alluvium over the floodplain and it was possible that it may have masked deeply buried features. [Au(adp)] |
