Abstract: |
The desktop assessment revealed evidence for extensive Iron Age and Roman settlement and activity, mostly to the north of the proposed development site. Documentary evidence suggested that medieval buildings belonging to an Augustinian Priory were located to the north of the site, and may have been present within the boundaries of the development area. 18th/19th century development on the site may have had a destructive effect on earlier archaeological remains.
