Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during groundworks associated with alleviation of a dampness problem at Church Hill Cottage, which abutts All Saints Churchyard. The foundations of the cottage wall were revealed, changing from neat rectangular worked mortared limestone blocks, to a very coarse make up of little foundation at the base of the excavations. A window, which was badly blocked on the inside, was revealed just below the surface in the western trench, and a concentration of limestone fragements in a section of the central trench was interpreted as the remains of a drystone wall.
